Orange County Cities, Schools, and County Prepare for New Tax Rates
As budget season approaches, local taxing entities across Orange County are setting property tax rates for 2026-27. School districts carry the highest rates — Orangefield ISD leads at $1.075 per $100 valuation, while Bridge City ISD is the lowest among schools at 95 cents. For cities, Orange has the highest rate at 87 cents per $100, with West Orange the lowest at 38 cents. State law provides a $140,000 homestead exemption for all homeowners, plus an additional $60,000 for seniors and the disabled — meaning some senior citizens with homes valued at $200,000 or less may owe no school property taxes at all. Orangefield ISD Online Registration Now Open
The online student registration portal for Orangefield ISD opened July 22 for both new and returning students. Parents are encouraged to log in through the Parent Portal to complete all required forms before schedule pick-ups and Meet the Teacher events. Art in the Park — Free Family Event at Conn Park This Saturday
Orange County families are invited to "Art in the Park" this Saturday, July 25, from 9 AM to 2 PM at Conn Park. The free community event features hands-on activities for kids of all ages including chalk art, bubble art, a giant coloring page, community painting, rock painting, and splatter wars. Young entrepreneurs also have the chance to set up a free vendor booth to sell their own creations, crafts, artwork, and treats — sign-ups are open now. Read More
