West Orange's popular "Holiday in the Park" community festival has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 24, 9 AM–4 PM, at the park next to West Orange City Hall (2700 Western Avenue). The event features food booths, craft vendors, and local entertainment. Booth registrations open to the public on Monday, August 3 — spaces start at $40 and are first-come, first-served. Vidor Pirates Release 2026 Football Schedule
Coach Dwayne Dubois and the Vidor Pirates are gearing up for the 2026 season, once again opening against the Silsbee Tigers. The Pirates look to improve on last year's 2-8 record with a roster that started many sophomores in 2025 — now a year more experienced and ready to compete. Read More
Southeast Texas Unemployment Rises to
6.2% in June
Southeast Texas's unadjusted unemployment rate climbed to 6.2% in June — up 0.8 points from May's 5.4% — and now ranks 23rd out of 26 Texas metro areas, exceeding both the statewide rate of 4.9% and the national rate of 4.4%. The region's civilian labor force totaled 185,364, with 11,449 workers counted as unemployed. On the brighter side, more than 6,100 job openings were available across the area. Among local counties, Jefferson County recorded the highest rate at 6.6%, while Hardin County had the lowest at 5.2%. Read More
