LCM High School Launches Audio & Video Production Program
Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School is kicking off the school year with a brand-new audio and video production program through its CTE department — already drawing 40 students. The program features a dedicated control room, podcast studio, and classroom, with students earning Adobe certifications and dual credit through Lamar State College Orange. Teacher Jamie DeShazo says it's about more than technical skills: "to highlight the special things that we do here."
Remembering Roy McDonald — West Orange's Mayor for 30 Years
Longtime West Orange Mayor Roy McDonald passed away Sunday at age 82. He served the city for 30 years — 26 as mayor — before retiring in 2021, overseeing the construction of a new City Hall, fire and police stations, and launching the "Mayors' Breakfasts" to strengthen county leadership ties. City Secretary Theresa VanMeter called him "one of the finest Christian men I have ever known — a man of integrity and true faith."
Stark Museum Hosts Color Orange Collage Workshop This Saturday
The Stark Museum of Art is hosting a hands-on CREATE! Workshop on Saturday, August 15, inspired by its "The Color Orange" exhibition. Participants will build a unique orange-inspired collage using layered paper, texture, and mixed media while exploring composition and design. Two sessions are available: 9:30–11:30 AM and 1:30–3:30 PM. The $5 materials fee covers all supplies; open to adults and children ages 7 and up. Register by August 13 — one session per participant only.
