The Grove Shopping Center Moves Closer to Breaking Ground in Orange
Orange's long-awaited Grove shopping center is picking up steam. The 43-acre development near Interstate 10 and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive — with a total projected cost exceeding $50 million — has a new retail layout that includes anchor tenants Academy, Burlington, Ross, and Five Below, along with 12 additional lots for other businesses. Property clearing has already begun, and construction is expected to get underway soon. The city of Orange approved a 10-year, 33% city sales tax rebate to help bring the project to fruition. Orange County Property Tax Rate Holds Steady at 49 Cents for 2027
Orange County property owners will see no change in the county's tax rate for 2027 — Commissioners Court voted unanimously to keep it at 49 cents per $100 valuation. Whether individual bills go up or down will depend on changes in appraised property values set by the Orange County Appraisal District. The county's new $78 million budget takes effect October 1 and includes cost-of-living pay raises for all county employees, with larger raises for sheriff's deputies and assistant district attorneys to help compete with salary offers elsewhere. United Way Day of Caring Mobilizes Nearly 300 Volunteers Across Orange County
United Way of Orange County's annual Day of Caring brought nearly 300 volunteers together to support local nonprofits, with participants from businesses, banks, plants and other organizations tackling 29 projects at 20 partner agencies. Volunteers spent the day painting, cleaning, organizing, and packing food boxes — saving nonprofits money they can redirect toward serving their clients. United Way also introduced Day of Caring grants this year to help agencies cover supply costs. Read More
