OC Livestock Show & BBQ Cookoff Kicks Off This Weekend

It’s a big weekend for Orange County agriculture fans. The Orange County Livestock Show Association is hosting its annual Livestock Show and BBQ Cookoff on Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10 at 7441 Cohenour Road in Orange. Tonight’s action starts at 6 p.m. with a Livestock Show Dinner and Poultry & Rabbit Show featuring rabbit, rooster, and turkey exhibitions. Saturday brings livestock shows beginning at 8 a.m. (swine, lamb, goat, and steers), a Youth Livestock Judging Competition at noon, and the crowd-pleasing Youth Livestock Auction at 6:30 p.m. The BBQ competition runs all weekend with categories for brisket, chicken, pork butt, and ribs, plus open competition for best margaritas, desserts, and specialty sauces. BCISD and Education Foundation Award $35K in Mini-Grants to Teachers

Bridge City ISD and the BCISD Education Foundation have awarded 16 mini-grants totaling $35,431.76 to local educators to support classroom innovation. The awards combine $13,166.24 from the district and $22,265.52 from the Education Foundation. Funded projects range from dinosaur exhibits and STEM tools to a CNC router, marching band instruction technology, art exhibition materials, and engineering prototyping supplies. The program gives teachers the resources to turn creative classroom ideas into real learning opportunities for Bridge City students.

INVISTA Orange Donates $5,000 to West Orange Fire Department

Local industry is showing up for its neighbors in uniform. INVISTA Orange, the global chemical company with a major manufacturing presence in the community, made a $5,000 donation to the West Orange Fire Department this week to help purchase much-needed equipment. The contribution comes during Fire Prevention Week and reflects the kind of local business investment that strengthens the safety net for Orange County residents.
