Orange Residents Could See $2.32 Monthly Trash Bill Increase

Orange city residents may soon see a modest bump in their solid waste bill, with the City of Orange Council voting this week on a proposed rate increase of approximately $2.32 per month. The vote comes as municipalities across Southeast Texas continue to face rising costs for waste collection and disposal services. Residents are encouraged to follow the council’s decision for the final outcome.
Bridge City ISD Performing Arts Center on Track for 2027 Opening

Bridge City ISD’s long-awaited performing arts center is on track for completion, with construction underway following a groundbreaking earlier this year. The 52,930-square-foot addition to Bridge City High School carries an estimated cost of $35 million and is targeted for completion by July 2027. The project was made possible by voters, who approved a $27.5 million bond in May with nearly 65% support. The center is expected to seat approximately 1,300 guests and will serve students and the broader community for performances and events.
Hunter Education Field Course Coming to Orangefield Oct. 25

Aspiring hunters have an opportunity to complete their Texas hunter education certification at a field course on Sunday, October 25, from 1–5 PM at the Orangefield Fire Station (next to K-Dan’s). This is the hands-on field portion of the course — participants must first complete the free online coursework through the Texas Parks & Wildlife website and bring their completion document to class. For more information, contact volunteer instructor Danny Odom at 409-882-4298.
