Busted: OC Vape Shops Caught Selling to Minors in Undercover Sting

Orange County law enforcement cracked down on businesses selling vaping and nicotine products to minors last week in a coordinated undercover operation. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with the Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division, the Texas Comptroller’s Office, Orange Police Department, Constable Joey Jacobs of Precinct 4, and LCM ISD Police to send an underage operative into smoke and vape shops across the county. The sting resulted in two arrests at shops that sold to the minor, and officers also seized a large cache of suspected illegal THC products, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun. Sheriff Bobby Smith issued a zero-tolerance warning, with more charges expected.

Tuesday's the Night: See the Plans for OC’s $4.5 Billion Flood Shield

If you want a say in Orange County’s flood protection future, tonight is your chance. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will present detailed plans for the county’s $4.5 billion levee and flood control system at the Bridge City Community Center, 150 Parkside off West Roundbunch Road, tonight, October 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. in a come-and-go format. The plan calls for 20 miles of earthen levees, three miles of concrete flood walls along the Sabine River, vertical closure gates on Cow and Adams bayous, multiple pump stations, and roughly 150–200 new drainage structures across northern Orange County. Orange County is on track to be the first county in Texas with a completed flood control system, with a target completion year of 2033.

OC Bands Sweep the Region — Four Schools, Four Ones

Orange County’s marching bands had a dominant showing at the Region 10 Marching Contest held Friday, October 17 at PNG High School — with Bridge City, LCM, Orangefield, and Vidor all earning First Division (One) ratings. The top score in marching band competition, a One means each program was judged at the highest level of excellence. Vidor, competing as a military band, earned an automatic bid to State, while the Bridge City Cardinals, LCM Bears, and Orangefield Bobcats advance to the Area contest. Orange County schools are making their mark on the competition circuit.
