Ghosts, Candlelight, and Dickens — The W.H. Stark House Invites You to a Very Victorian Book Club

Get in the holiday spirit early at the W.H. Stark House Classics Book Club on Thursday, November 12, where the group will dig into A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Inspired by Miriam Stark’s own love of books, the evening explores the story’s publication history, its roots in Victorian England, and Miriam Stark’s deep admiration for Dickens. Guests will also enjoy a candlelit tour of the Stark House dressed in its full Christmas splendor. Advanced registration is encouraged. (Note: reaching the front porch requires ascending six steps.)

Your Neighbors Need a Thanksgiving Meal - Here's How You Can Help

Be Blessed Orange, TX is collecting non-perishable food items to provide full Thanksgiving meals to families in need right here in our community. Drop-off runs October 29 – November 3 at two locations: the County Commissioner Chris Sowell Office (11867 Hwy 62 N, Orange) and Angie’s Lane (11261 Hwy 12, Suite 800, at the end of the porch). Needed items include dry beans, instant mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, cornbread mix, mac & cheese, stuffing mix, green beans, corn, rice, and more. Every donation makes a difference — and monetary donations are also accepted.

Flip, Click, and Crawl — Shangri La Gardens Brings Eric Carle’s Clumsy Beetle to Life

Inspired by Eric Carle’s The Very Clumsy Click Beetle, Shangri La Botanical Gardens is hosting a free Saturday Adventure Series program on Saturday, November 7 from 10–11 AM. Kids will hear the story, learn how beetles adapt and survive, move like beetles, and even meet some of Shangri La’s resident insect ambassadors. It’s first come, first served — registration is open now. Meet at the SLG porte-cochere at 2111 W. Park Ave., Orange.
